MetaMusic is an independent non-profit organization serving creators and the music industry in Quebec and Canada. The organization was founded in 2020 by a consortium of professional associations, collective management societies and unions active in Quebec and Canada: ADISQ, APEM, ARTISTI, CQM, GMMQ, SOCAN, SOPROQ, SPACQ-AE and UDA.
Our Mission
MetaMusic brings together key players in the music sector to equip the music industry with collective tools and best practices to regain control of our music metadata, simplify its management and therefore optimize the discoverability of local music!
The Mandate: to create a useful tool to simplify your life!
MetaMusic has launched the first version of its tool for capturing, indexing, and distributing music metadata, designed to increase the discoverability and effectiveness of album releases. It will allow local artists and craftspeople to:
➜ document and index their new releases, works, and sound recordings with all their collaborators
➜ gather unique industry identifiers: ISNI, IPI, IPN, ISRC, ISWC, and UPC
➜ complete mandatory declarations and filings
➜ export their metadata for referencing wherever necessary and relevant!
