To speed up the integration process into MetaMusic, we have developed an Excel form that allows you to create accounts in bulk.  Whether it’s for your entire label, a management or publishing company, a symphonic orchestra, or any other specific project involving multiple contributors, this process will enable you to easily mobilize your contributors with all the necessary accounts to document your works, recordings, and releases. Completing this step will enable you to properly prepare for all the others.
Who is this free service for?
For all project leaders who need to mobilize 10 or more people. This could be:
- a maker (individual maker, Artist entrepreneur, business, coop, etc.)
- a label
- a publisher
- a production company (studio, mastering, mixing, producer team, etc.)
- a manager
- an orchestra
- an association or collective
If your project has fewer than 10 contributors, you can:
- Ask individual contributors to create their own accounts in a few minutes if they haven’t already done so.
- Invite them when documenting a work, recording, or release
- Invite them after you upload your SOCAN catalogue
- If you are a maker, publisher, or manager, request the rights to create individual artist accounts so you can set them up in just a few clicks.
What types of accounts can I create?
You can create all types of individual contributors present in MetaMusic:
- Songwriter and other roles related to the creation of works (arranger, translator, etc.)
- Performing artist
- Producer (individual or collective)
- Other roles (production/technical, cover art, or arrangement of sound recordings)
- NOTE: If the contributor plays these latter roles, even on an occasional or informal basis, we recommend that you add them. This way, they can easily be credited for these contributions as well. Think of an artist who also does a little production for their projects, or an artist who also does photography/drawing/writing for album covers, logos, etc.
- You can create accounts for all your collaborators, whether you are their manager/label/publisher or not. In this case, you will not have access rights to their accounts, but you can document them in your production right away. In either case, the artist or contributor remains in control of their account at all times when you use this process.Â
IMPORTANT: It is your responsibility to notify your collaborators that they will now have an account and that they will receive a confirmation notification from MetaMusic. At any time, you can refer them to us with questions or invite them to join one of our introduction or support sessions.
Reminder:Â you can book an onboarding session with our team at any time to guide you through this process or any other steps in MetaMusic!Â
How to proceed?
Step 1: Download the Excel/Google Sheets file
- You can download the Excel version below.
- Renommez le fichier en ajoutant le nom de votre projet/organisation avant l’envoi. Il est aussi possible d’utiliser Libre Office (ODS)
- Rename the file by adding the name of your project/organization before sending it.
You can use the read-only Google Sheets available here.Â- If you are using the Google Sheets version, create a copy of this file and add the name of your organization/project to the name to facilitate processing.
- Download the file in XLS or XLSX format to facilitate processing and proper data management or share it with infos.metamusique@gmail.com
Step 2: Fill in the required information
Include as much information as possible for the contributors you add, depending on the roles added:
- For all roles, a last name, first name, and email address are required.
- Songwriters and other creators: add the IPI (not to be confused with the SOCAN membership number).
- Artisti member performers: add their Artisti ID and stage name, if applicable.
- For maker roles (individual or collective): indicate the SOPROQ member number.
- For other roles (production/technical, cover art, or sound recording arrangement): no ID is required.
If you do not have all the necessary information, such as unique IDs or membership numbers, we recommend obtaining it from the contributors themselves. However, we can assist you in identifying some of them in collaboration with our collecting society partners. Contributors and managers associated with the account can always add them later. For IPI, the information is available in SOCAN’s public directory. Â For IPI, the information is available in SOCAN’s public directory.
You can take advantage of this period to notify contributors that they will soon receive a notification from MetaMusic regarding the creation of this account.
- If you are creating an account for artists under your management, add up to four managers in the last section of the form. These managers will have read/write access to complete documentation and account management. However, the artist will retain full administrative control of their account, including the ability to remove other managers.
- For accounts where no managers are added, only the artist will have access to the account.
- If you need to add an external manager, publisher, or other relevant contact, you can do so if you have the necessary contact information.
Step 3: Send us the document
Once your document is complete, send it to us using this form. It will be processed within two business days, and you will receive confirmation. Once processed and confirmed, the document you sent will be destroyed.
